This I Believe

I believe that everyone needs a best friend. A best friend is someone to talk to, someone to listen to, someone to cry with, laugh with, and remember old times with. If you didn’t have a best friend who would you do those things with, no one?
Having a best friend can benefit you in so many ways. A best friend will always be there for you. They are there to give you advice during bad and good times. It’s really good to have a best friend because they can make any issue easier to get through. My best friend has always been here for me, even when we weren’t really that good of friends. She has always been there when there has been problems with school, family, guys, everything. She’s always been there for me to give me advice and help me with my problems. That’s when you know you have a best friend, when someone will always be there like that.
A best friend is also someone that you can have tons of fun with doing basically nothing. I remember this one time when my best friend and I were really bored and I was staying the night at her house. So you know what we did? We watched old Disney movies and played kid board games like Chutes and Ladders and Candy Land. It was so much fun. We both felt like little kids again.
I believe that people need someone to talk to and the best person to do that is a best friend who will not judge you, who will always be honest with you, even when it maybe something you don’t want to hear. Everyone needs a person who they can trust and go to when they have no one else and that is what a best friend is and does. I have always gone to my best friend when I can’t go to someone in my family, when I have a problem. Best friends always give you the love, support, respect and honor you need when you don’t feel you can get them anywhere else.
How could you not want a person who will do all those things for you and fill in the missing pieces that no one else can. I believe everyone needs a best friend.

This I Believe Response

Now I understand that podcasting is a way to share audio files over the internet. Also, that you can download podcasts on to a music devise. When listening to the podcasts I noticed that the sound was clear and easy to listen to. The people speaking spoke clear and slow. But not like robot slow, just like a good pace to where you can understand easily.
The “This I Believe” essay that I listened to was “Learning to Find the Silver Linings” by Annaliese Jakimides. I selected this essay because I know that it is hard for people to live with a suicide in the family and so I wanted to know what she had to say about it. I liked how she made everything in the essay positive. Even though the essay was about how she was living without her son who committed suicide. I liked how when she said how her daughter told her not to talk to strangers she made it into something good, like it can affect people in different ways just from someone starting a conversation with you. Something memorable about her speech was her introduction and conclusion. I didn’t really know at first how she was going to tie in finding a silver lining to a suicide. Then how she explained how she celebrates her son rather than morn for him. Something effective about the speech was that it was personal rather than just explaining how to find a silver lining after a loss.
