This is what I think, of “This I Believe”
Personally I felt that listening to the “This I Believe” essays really helped me get a better idea how to write one and a few ideas. Not only that, it was nice listening to some others and hearing what they thought. There were some that I greatly agreed with and some that I found to be boring. I discovered that it helps to be a decent speaker and have real feeling towards what you are writing about, because that way people will be more interested into listening to what you are saying. There were those that I didn’t agree with, but I felt compelled to listen to them because of the reader’s vocal presentation.

I can’t say I entirely agree with your opinion about illegal immigration. Your argument seems to assume it is the immigrants taking advantage of the American government. In reality, it is the US government who exploits the immigrants for cheap labor. You better believe the government has the power to deport all of the immigrants if they wanted to (just look at foreign policy and defense). I would do some more research and beef up your argument to make it more convincing. Thank you for being so bold in writing about a controversial topic!

Oh I most certainly agree that the Government is exploiting illegal immigrants for cheap labor. It’s cruel and very wrong. But if the illegal immigrants weren’t so quick to come to the United States and almost over load us, I don’t think the Government would be doing as much exploiting. Higher security all over the borders of the United States would be a good first step. But like you said Ellen, the government is exploiting cheap labor, so they may say they are cracking down on illegal immigration but really, we all know that they are letting a few slip by, so save them some money in the businesses that need…well want them, so they can save a bit of $$$

I agree with what you are saying. It is unfair to those who are legal to have to jobs they need taken away by those who wont take the time to become actual American citizens. However, I also believe that our government does exploit illegal immigrants. Businesses take them in to save money on salaries.
